Description

This beautiful, embroidered wall art depicts the festival of Dandiya which is played during Navratri. It is celebrated since goddess Durga emerged victorious after a nine-day battle with demon king Mahishasura. The festival is thus celebrated with the idea of the triumph of good over evil. This wall art is created in the form of Chakra, which is a decorative piece used to decorate the homes of the Saurashtra area of Gujarat. Chakras embroidery work is all hand-stitched and is usually filled with symbolic image, which is traditional folk art icons. It is also decorated with beautiful embroidery around small mirrors which signify good fortune and in just the right light will gleam, like sunlight on a pond.
